DYO Paint Factory’s Çiğli Facility, which is the largest facility in the Turkish paint industry, is built on an area of approximately 125 acres. Industrial paints such as furniture, car repair, plastic and powder paint as well as synthetic resin, varnish and insulation materials are produced in the enterprise. The general building structure of the factory, whose area was expanded by two folds in 2016, has two and four floors.
EEC installed the fire detection and alarm system at our facility in 1996. The reason why we selected EEC is that EEC was considered the best fire detection system then and now for us. Particularly in the facilities similar to our facility, where very dangerous products with a high fire risk are used and produced and ex-proof products must be used in the majority of the enterprise, EEC designed a system suitable for our needs, and selected high quality devices. EEC always eliminates our hesitations for fire detection systems.
As the Technical Safety employees, we believe that the best characteristic of the EEC panel is its user-friendliness. As we add and remove field devices and detectors, it is important that the panel is easy to use. We use the panel very comfortably when we need to disable any device or view the errors in the works such as maintenance times, hot works, etc. that require controlled shutdown of the detection system for a very short time. This is what pleases us most about EEC.
Apart from being user-friendly, the most useful properties of the products are that they are stable and do not break down. When the system breaks down, it does not trigger an alarm, this error does not prevent the entire system from operating, and has not caused any problem for us for many years. Even in case of power failure, the system operates reliably because it is very stable. It triggers quick, on-target alarms both in the tests and in emergency cases. It detects the relevant locations very easily and senses smoke actively. I would give 10 out of 10 for the quality of the products we use and for meeting our expectations.
The EEC's system is both stable and functional. We access the panel very easily. We can do the actions quickly, without the errors on the panel preventing our work. It offers freedom in this matter. It has a maintenance mode that most of the companies do not have. We can switch the system into maintenance mode, directly deactivate and then reactivate it. In the detection system of different brands, instead of this property, individual elements in the relevant area must be disabled or cycles must be disabled. If there is an error in this deactivation process, it continuously notifies the error to you and then you have to go back to the beginning, which causes you to do the action in a long time instead of a short time. Besides, the systems installed by EEC automatically switch the system from maintenance mode to the detection mode after a certain period of time, even if you forget to activate the system after maintenance, which is a very good property.
I recommend the products and services of EEC. We explain our system to our customers or different companies who want us to share our experience in terms of fire safety: "We cooperate with EEC, yes it is slightly expensive, but if you buy a product for 3 Liras, you can use it for 1-2 years and then you throw it away as it does not work. If you buy a product for 5 Liras, you will use it forever, which one would you prefer?" We think that "EEC is of good quality, you can use it for a long time, we have been using its products for 25 years and we do not experience any problems. You can use their products for a long time." The products are expensive but worth it. The idea of "Let's cooperate with EEC here" may cause financial difficulties. That is why I would give 7 out of 10 on this topic.
In terms of service, it is very important for us to receive quick feedback and solve the problems efficiently for our business, which has a high risk of fire. We are satisfied that both the customer care, regional representative and technical service staff not only provide support on the phone, but also visit our facility quickly when there is a problem, based on their knowledge and experience to solve the problem.
The lead times of the works are short. EEC is a company that maintains good customer relations. We do not experience any problems in this matter. Not only the service staff but also the sales staff are knowledgeable, experienced and willing to do their job excellently because they love doing their job. Therefore, we want to work with EEC. We love cooperating with EEC, we really love it.
We want to cooperate with EEC. When there is a situation, we can definitely reach EEC through a phone call, and they return with quick and on-site solutions. The approach of the sales staff is also very good, even ven if we call them at night. In fact we called the technician staff several times, they provided a solution with goodwill and came to our facility in a short time at night.
As the DYO Boya Çiğli enterprise, which is the first company to receive the Covid-19 Safe Production Certificate in the paint sector in Turkey, we were able to eliminate most of the negative effects of the pandemic. In fact, there was an increase in our operations and overtime. Our fire risk has also increased in hot weather conditions due to overworking. As we minimized the risks arising from overworking thanks to the stable operation of our fire detection system, we saved time in this period and focused on different risks. As for Technical Safety, we were able to work more efficiently.
When we did our last periodical maintenance in July, we did not experience any problems. EEC staff followed the rules and even wore double masks. By following the Covid-19 rules of our enterprise, they worked with social distance, without shaking hands, away from everyone, and without getting close to other people.
First of all, it is mandatory to install a fire detection system in the areas where flammable chemicals are stored and produced according to legislation. However, as DYO Boya Çiğli Facility, which is a top tier organization under the regulation on the Prevention of Major Accidents and Investigation of the Effects, we can say that our fire detection system is our heart, a vital organ that we place great importance, because some 550 personnel are employed in our facility. As such, there is a serious number of users here. We have to have a fire notification system that warns these people, controls them and allows for quick guidance and evacuation etc. in case of any situation. A fire detection system is of course very important in case of fire.
