Istanbul Sapphire or Sapphire of Istanbul or simply Sapphire is the 17th tallest building in Europe following the Shard London Bridge, with an antenna height of 261 meters. It is located in Çeliktepe Neighborhood of Kağıthane District in Istanbul.
As a residential, shopping and entertainment center project, Istanbul Sapphire is the tallest building ever built in Turkey. The building, which has a total construction area of 165.169 sqm, has a total of 66 floors, 10 of which are under the ground.
There are 177 residential units of different sizes ranging from 120 sqm to 1.100 sqm in the residential section of the building. There are 4 residential zones in the residence section, and these zones form a sky garden on every 3 floors. Various recreation areas were created for the residents on the floors existing between these zones.
As the common areas of the residences, there is a 970 sqm private social area (lounge), a 1.100 sqm golf training course and a restaurant bar on the top floor of the building. There is also a viewing terrace, which is open to the public and located at a height of 225 meters.
EEC generated the Fire Alarm, Emergency Announcement, Public Address, Access Control, CCTV and Carbon Monoxide Detection System solutions in the Istanbul Sapphire project. In these solutions, high-quality product ranges were used according to the technological building concept, by taking the requirements of the building into consideration.
The UTC Edwards Fire Alarm System has Fire Alarm Control Panels that operate as a peer-to-peer network. There are over 4000 detectors connected to these panels and over 3500 monitoring and control modules that monitor the extinguishing system equipment, control the mechanical devices used for smoke removal, and control the other systems according to the fire scenario.
All fire alarm system equipment that has been processed on the CAD plans of the building can be monitored and controlled through the UTC Edwards' FireWorks Graphic Monitoring/Control Software.
The Smoke Removal System, which is an indispensable part of the Fire Alarm System particularly in the high-rise buildings, is controlled within the same architecture through the UTC Edwards' UL864-approved panels.
The control of the mechanical devices that constitute the smoke removal system is executed automatically by the Fire Alarm Control Panel according to the scenario. In some cases, it may be required to control these devices manually by bypassing the scenario. For this manual control, the 463 Pako Switch Controlled Mimic Panel was specifically designed for the project. Operation and fault monitoring of all devices in the smoke removal scenario is also executed through this panel.
Communication Bridges were included into the system to ensure the software-based integration of the fire alarm system with the Building Automation System (BMS).
EN54-certified Bosch products were chosen for the Emergency Announcement and Public Address System solution. There are over 1400 loudspeakers in the system designed in line with the evacuation zones. According to the fire scenario, evacuation messages are automatically transmitted to the zones. There is also the possibility of broadcasting music in the system, where announcements can be made from the system center to each zone separately.
In the UTC Access Control System, the access of users to the floors is limited according to their authorization levels thanks to the card readers that ensure elevator control.
In the CCTV System, there are a total of 367 cameras of different types selected according to the characteristics of the indoor and outdoor areas where they are used. Video management functions such as keeping records on the UTC DVRs and watching live and recorded images from the system centers are executed flexibly.
The Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detection System was designed for the purpose of maximizing the comfort conditions in the car parks. According to the CO level values, the control of the removal fans is executed through the UTC CO Detection System.
