Smoke Control Systems

Smoke control systems or smoke evacuation systems are installed for the purpose of evacuating the smoke in the environment where a fire occurs without spreading to another fire zone, if necessary, after being kept in that zone for a certain period of time or immediately outside the building.

Mechanical equipment controlled by the smoke control systems:

  • Air conditioning plants (AHU)
  • Smoke extraction (exhaust) fans
  • Pressurization fans
  • Motor/mechanical smoke screens
  • Motor-operated fire dampers

The smoke control system can be installed as a separate system or through existing fire alarm systems suitable for use as a smoke control system.

Smoke Control Panel

The smoke control system is controlled from a single center with a smoke control panel.

Relay control modules and monitoring modules required for the mechanical equipment to be controlled in case of emergency communicate with the panel by means of the field installation connected to the smoke control panel in different types and quantities according to the type of device. The smoke control system, which is normally disabled and is enabled after the confirmation of a fire alarm, can automatically activate the mechanical equipment or be used after the manual intervention of an operator. This operator must be an expert in fire response, familiar with the building and the layout of the mechanical equipment associated with all ventilation systems.

The smoke control and evacuation systems are necessary to ensure the full safety of life and property in high business centers and residence buildings, hotels, hospitals and shopping centers.

In practice, it is necessary to produce a solution by adhering to the local and international standards.
